Two major events, between the old town and the harbour; city marketing to enhance the promotion of five festivals of art, music and literature; five structural measures to extend or make cultural sites more accessible.

These are the main actions for Ravenna Italian Capital of Culture 2015 that Mayor Fabrizio Matteucci, Ravenna 2015's coordinator Alberto Cassani and the Councillor for Culture Ouidad Bakkali announced and illustrated to local journalists on the eve of the press conference on Friday, April 10 at 11.30am in Rome convened by the Minister for Cultural Heritage and Activities Dario Franceschini, along with the other Italian capitals of culture 2015: Siena, Lecce, Cagliari and Perugia (available on the YouTube channel of MiBACT).

WHAT ACTIONS HAVE BEEN PLANNED IN RAVENNA TO CELEBRATE THE TITLE OF ITALIAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE 2015?
The City will invest 1 million euro for the activities related to the title in two different ways:
• 400.000€ for the promotion of organized cultural initiatives in the city and two major events scheduled for 18 July and 12 December;
• 600.000€ will be used to make some existing locations more usable and functional.

Regarding the first type of investment, the expenses will cover the promotion enhancement of major events already planned by cultural associations and groups, some of which are already under way, such as "Il Bel Paese" exhibition at MarRavenna Festival 2015, the inauguration of the first station of the Archaeological Park of Classe (16 July), Dante 2015 (May to December) and RavennaMosaico festival.

Such events - graphically grouped under the 2015 logo - will be published on the website ravennacapitale2015.it, and promoted through banners and panels at Bologna Airport and in a video shown in the Milan tube to Expo. Above all, these channels will serve to create two special events to be held on 18 July on Ravenna's waterfront and on 12 December at Palazzo Rasponi, on which the Municipality is working together with local cultural associations. An additional promotional channel for Ravenna 2015's events will be a press campaign on national newspapers (Corriere della Sera, Repubblica, Il Sole 24 Ore), the "Centostazioni" video and other media suggested by the Ministry for the 5 capital cities.

As for the budget relating to buildings (600.000€), interventions will affect the museum furnishings of Museo del Territorio inside the former sugar factory of Classe; the recovery, reuse and furnishings of the former shooting range in via Trieste and other interventions in the city dock; furnishings of cultural containers in the city centre, such as Palazzo RasponiLuigi Rasi Theatre and Classense Library.
